"Ms. Keit came recommended to us in the spring of 2000. She interviewed us to learn our expectations, color preferences and budget. She reviewed the land to get an idea of its opportunities and limitations, and took numerous photographs. We found that at all times Ms. Keit was creative, knowledgeable, considerate and detailed in her plans. She was always most professional. Soil samples were taken and sent for evaluation. Detailed drawing were provided along with plant illustrations, irrigation and lighting plans. Special searches were made for the best gazebo, pond, and waterfall features for the garden. We are delighted with the garden and have twice been chosen for the Pacifica Garden Tour. We continue to enjoy the support and counsel of Ms. Keit and recommend her services."

This landscape design included front yard, courtyard and back yard area. The house was repainted and new fences and gates were installed throughout the landscape.
The homeowners are a hard working, social couple that needed a landscape design plan that would give them better curb appeal, space to relax, entertain, and vacation in their own backyard. Overgrown shrubs covered the slope of this split level garden and a messy Pittosporum tree dropped sticky fruit at the back of the property. The large lower deck provided the only seating in the garden.
The homeowners were open to a vacation paradise theme that was reinforced by the plants and a pond. The pond concept design was later expanded to a pond and waterfall to take advantage of the slope. A beautiful redwood gazebo was tucked in a corner of the garden at the top of the waterfall (shown above) provided intimate seating and a place to relax.
In order to reuse and recycle on-site materials, the narrow concrete path was broken up and reworked with marble (provided by the homeowners) and glass tiles into a wider, colorful pathway to the gazebo.
The messy tree was removed to make way for the new deck and the old fence line was pushed back 8'. All perimeter fencing was replaced with grape-stake fencing.
A staircase now connects the upper path; crossing over a bridge, to the boardwalk on the lower level, which runs between the existing main deck and a new observation deck.
The wooden deck was exposed and underused. A custom L-shaped pergola with built-in benches was added as part of the design for the large lower deck, adjacent to the pond.
The large deck was edged in sections of peeler cores at staggered heights and repainted by the homeowners. A large pergola was added on the far side of the deck to cover the dining table. Jasmine vines were planted to soften the lines of the pergola.
The wooden retaining walls were structurally sound and the homeowners wanted to keep them. The posts were veneered in peeler cores and accented with small landscape lights above beds filled with ferns and fragrant Violet. Other garden plants include tree ferns, Cape Fuchsia, Pygmy Date Palms and Fortnight Lily, among others. Ground Morning Glory plants add a colorful touch along the waterfall and pond.
The finished vacation paradise garden has five separate seating areas and is a gathering place for family and friends and has twice been selected for the Pacifica Garden Tour and a cover issue of Coastviews Magazine.
