Raised Bed Container Garden Design

"Laurie, thank you for making my dream garden a real garden. You transformed my barren yard into a beautiful Cottage Garden. All I had was a useless cement slab, some weeds, a vague idea of what I wanted and not a clue how to get there. Then I read an article of yours published in the Coastside newspaper. You made soil sound so interesting, and it was obvious plants were your passion. From there to your website, to you. Your enthusiasm, then as now, was and is contagious. Working with you has been fun and exciting, and you know your stuff. But what impressed me most was that you listened and designed a garden perfect for me. When it came time for buying you put a capital "P" in your Personal Shopper Service, traversing the Bay Area in search of the best of the best and you found them. The plants and pots are magnificent. And my very favorite, the white cascading Hydrangea is absolutely breathtaking. From palnning to planting you've done a wonderful job. You made my little dream blossom. Thank you, Laurie, for my little slice of heaven."

This townhouse garden consisted of a huge trampoline, enclosed hot tub deck (no hot tub) and a group of non-flowering plants and grasses. The fences are the property of the association, not to be touched, so boards were replaced as needed and are being allowed to weather to match the existing boards.

The homeowner has a passion for blue and white flowers and was looking for a "cottage garden". She had purchased the white pickets and trellis panels and wanted to use them to keep her small dog from digging under the fence.

The pre-existing over sized waterfall fountain was too large and was removed and replaced with a custom, Italian pottery fountain, planter combo, in the homeowner's favorite color, cobalt blue. Plants tumble from oversize pots (left).

In addition to a small dog, the homeowner has a young daughter who plays with friends in the yard. The hot tub structure was moved and converted into a playhouse. The trampoline was also moved to one side creating a play area for the child and a separate garden space. The lawn was removed and a stained concrete path encloses two large raised bed planters.
The path doubles as a small skate track around the flower beds.

The yard is now attractive and functional for the entire family.
